YO GEORGIANS! :)

The little corn plant is coming along nicely. Going to wait until I can see roots on the bottom of the cup, and transplant it to a bigger pot, instead of a laundry cup... lol!

Pretty sure she likes having her feet soaked. She is sound asleep. As soon as her feet hit the warm water she goes completely limp and goes to sleep. :)

I got her about a week ago and her feet were frost bitten. Not surprising with this crazy weather we've been having. Pretty sure my Roo has some on his comb from last night.

Hi Everyone;

It's been a while since I posted (months), but I try to read messages at least once a week to catch up on what's going on. I'm sorry to hear that some of you have had losses, but I'm glad that everyone seems to have weathered the snow and ice without any terrible irradiated. I think I have a rooster or two with a bit of frostbite on the edges of Wales, but sofarso good (knock on wood). I'm too much of a newbie myself to tell what could be wrong with the one hen with the vent issue, sorry :(.
I'm super excited that several of us seem to have hatches going on at the same time though! Woohoo! I made my own incubator last summer, and arty some guinea eggs for the first test run. One of twelve hatched. She is a spoiled rotten bird, and thinks she's past pirate parrot. This time I set 10 B.O. eggs and 5 Silkies, and 100% were fertile and grew well to lockdown. This afternoon at 3:30, I found three pips, and now I've got two just out of the shell, still wet. My daughter will be four in April, and I can't get her to stay in bed -she had to keep checking on them, lol! I don't blame her. These are our first home-grown babies, and I love that they are hatching along with other GA. chicks. Good luck to all the other babies!

Ps -do we give them football themed names, or winter storm names?

Pps -posting on my phone; ignore any zany typos. The predictive text on this thing is terrible :rolleyes: for example: references to radiation were unintentional :/

Got my first hatch of this batch zipping out right now as well! Its an EE!

But the family just got another scare that we can't place. I was just woken up by a VERY strong smell of burning. When I raced out of my room to check, everyone else had just emerged to find the source of the same smell. It faded after a few minutes, and we can not find the source. I even checked heat lamps, but found nothing wrong.

After 10 minutes with no smoke, and no fire, we gave up and went back to bed. There has been a wild mouse around, chewing on subflooring lately. We have all heard him, on both ends of the house, and everything in between. And we are thinking he crawled into the heating system...
