I'm hoping he makes it safe too.

I just went outside and moved the heat lamp from the chick pen to the big chicken pen. None of them have "found" it yet, but two of the hens are sitting in the nest boxes like they want to lay an egg, but it's too cold to push it out! LOL! And there isn't a single egg already in the nest, so I'm pretty sure all of my hens are either on strike today, or about to be!

The heat lamp SHOULD convince them to roost in the pen tonight as well. The little dummies have been staying out in the freezing rain, not seeking shelter. I fed them under the carport, but only two of them bothered to come check it out. The rest stood out in the rain and looked at me like I was stupid. Silly birds.

The ENTIRE net over the pen is one big hard sheet of ice. I'm surprised it hasn't fallen, but I guess those poles are positioned just right, that the extra weight is actually keeping them ON the poles.

So am I!
The faster spring ACTUALLY gets here... the faster my chicks and goose eggs arrive! HAHA!

Screw the weather, I just want my birdies to be okay, and to be HERE already!

Good grief ... 3 more chicken nuggets hatched this morning and I was sure I only had one good egg left, and that one is only just now at day 20 and has yet to hatch.

They had 3 inches 2 weeks ago and they had 18 inches in 1973. I really don't know if the turkeys lay year round here though.

Hubby said the cars are completely encased in ice. We only have about an inch of snow, but there is ice beneath it and we are getting freezing rain now.

Everyone stay safe! Hopefully we keep power.
