YO GEORGIANS! :)

I would guess from the copper, but my friend on well water has to filter because there's too much copper in the water...toxic. I'd believe it for a silver coin, but copper tarnish is toxic.

Copper is also a good algaecide.

Just got here!

WELCOME!!!

Anybody else noticing less egg production since the cooler weather swooped in??

Very much so. From my 10 adult hens in the coop I normally get between 6-8 a day but since about last weekend It's dropped down to about 2-3 a day, sometimes less. :(

My daughter's friend in FL has a chicken farm. She said she use to get 12 dozen eggs a week and is now down to 2 dozen a week! My older hens have slowed down a lot, my young ones are doing well (even if they are only pullet eggs!)

I have 45 eggs in my bator right now. The sad thing is is that the special eggs (Araucanas) I had my son get me from FL don't look fertile! The one Croad Langshan looks ok and so do the Seramas and my own eggs. But I really wanted some Araucanas and those beautiful blue eggs! My 10 candling is coming up on Sunday and I will know more about what I have then!

Good luck with your eggs maybe you will be surprised with the Araucanas.
