YO GEORGIANS! :)

Cold? Who said anything about cold? It's not COLD!

Oh wait, you all must be talking about what's OUTSIDE of this blanket. Okay, gotcha.... oh crap, I think the blanket just came unplugged! Better fix that really quick!

I'm addicted to this site and I've been playing on it a lot today:
http://kippenjungle.nl/kruisingKipFlexTree.html?DATA=S;Chicken Plug-in Calculator;

But I just found out that apparently a splash colored rooster, and a silver laced hen, make 100% blue offspring.

So I finally found a combination to guarantee 100% blue offspring. And it doesn't require breeding an actual blue color at all. Say goodbye to those "blue plus blue equals black, blue, and splash" pairs!

A few of you may remember a few weeks back that I posted about having a sick hen and roo. Unfortunately they both died but I had a necropsy done on the hen. I am dealing with a + diagnosis of MS but have a good contact (State Vet) for help with it and have my flock in treatment for it. Anyway to get to my point without rambling....

He and I were talking and I mentioned that he should give lectures or seminars on his expertise. He said he would love to give them. I feel it would be a good way to learn more on poultry disease and prevention. Would any of you be interested in attending if we could manage to set them up? He and I have discussed Valdosta as a location. Let me know what you all think of this and maybe we can get something going.
I hope this is ok to post here. Admin- please remove if this is a violation.

Most of the local tractor supplies will be getting chicks starting in March, but I know a lady who needs to sell some of her flock because she has too many. They are only a few months old. I know she has some EEers. Let me know if you are interested. She lives in Jasper and I live in Dawsonville. Another lady sells many breeds of chicks (for colored eggs) Marans, EEer, Olive Eggers, etc. She lives in Cumming. These are all about an hour from you, but it would make for a fun day!
@Flowerbh I am interested in some EEers & Olive Eggers. I am in Calhoun. I have Marans and RIR's. I'm looking to expand my egg basket. :)

It's here, it's here, it's here! First EE of the year!

He had a bumpy ride in to this world, but survived it and he's chirping like crazy in the incubator now. I know I've got others who have made the internal pip - I can hear the muted chirping from other incubator. Only one other one has made an external pip though, and it was the wrong end of the shell (totally missed the air sac). He's chirping too now though, so he'll probably be okay.

Since the incubators stay in my bedroom, I can assure everyone that I'm not going to be getting ANY sleep these next two nights as they all finally hatch!
