YO GEORGIANS! :)

400

This is what I found in the nest box when I got home today. The one on the right is an average size egg that I get from the weird looking white hen I have. The one on the right is literally as big as my hand from wrist to tip of my middle finger and is at least half again as big around as the other. This is the 2nd one I've gotten. It's from one of my comets. I think all the girls will get a treat tomorrow!

Give me a moment, while I cover my face with my hand and shake my head....

Okay, done. I actually just saw someone state that they have a few chicks, and they are worried about a lump in their throat. They said it feels like a bean bag and gets bigger the more they feed it...

*another facepalm moment*

Ahhh... newbies!

Lol. The first chicjs we got were brooded in an aquarium on my kitchen counter. I woke up the morning after we got them and saw that almost all of them had these swollen places at the base of their throats. I freaked out, woke my husband up and was pretty well convinced they were all going to die. My husband looked at the birds, looked at me and just said that's they're crop, if it's flat then worry. I felt like a jack @$$! Now I know better though.

I bet most of us thought the same thing with our first chicks! Don't feel bad. Everyone starts as a Newbee, then we learn through experience. That's life! Enjoy living and learning!

Anybody in north west Georgia have chicks or hatching eggs for sale? The husband is coming down I75 out of Tennessee and wanted to bring me a "surprise" of chicks but is not having any luck with CL so he asked me to check with y'all. The only thing is, he's got a loaded trailer and you'd have to meet him at a truck stop.

So, remember I said I was waiting for a guy to pick up some hatching eggs this weekend? Well, my dumba** deleted the ad from craigslist before sending him my actual phone number. And when you delete an ad, it turns off the email relay. DERP!

I tried reactivating the ad, but it sets up an entirely new email relay. So it didn't work.

Looks like I'll be tossing a full dozen into the incubator all at once. And the large-fowl hen didn't spend a second night in the nest, so I'm not putting eggs under her.

I might need to buy a third incubator!

Ya know I can take those off your hands....my bator will be ready to rock and roll Saturday. Unless these hatch early. :)
