YO GEORGIANS! :)

These particular eggs were an "egg-layer mix" so all of them are mixed breed. But it's a combination of leghorns, plymouth rocks, and EE's.

That's all I've been collecting for the past two weeks or so, since I moved the EE's back into the main pen,and put the silkies in the breeding pen. They're still LIKELY to be purebred now, since hens get attached to their roosters a lot when I move them to the breeding pen alone for a bit.

First day of work was long, but a success. Came home to find two chicks waiting for me in the incubator. One was another Sumatra bantam mix (I'm going to have to separate HIM, just so my other roosters can get some action...) and the second one was... a silkie mix!

His mommy is the one that was attacked by the possum and killed. When I looked at him, I noticed he looked much darker than her other chicks. I couldn't really see his skin under all of the fluff, but his beak was really dark. I turned him over and looked at his feet and... FIVE TOES!

Her purpose in the silkie pen was to relieve pressure on the one purebred silkie hen that I have in there. And apparently she did exactly that, before the possum got her.

Awww.  You have a helper chicken.
Oh she's a helper alright. After this she was UP on hubby's saw table- twice.. in the garage UP on the workbench squatting and singing, and then after I finally closed that off she was UP on hubby's truck, eyeballing the wipers! Hahaha. Monster!!
