There are 58 eggs in there.. . I need another incubator.

But then you would need more eggs!

I have realized that if I get all the chickens I want, I would need to build 25-30 more pens! And purchase 6 more incubators, build 10 brooders, Argghh! Chicken Addiction! Maybe I could get one of those long poultry houses like they grow out meat birds in. haha

I could not agree more. I have had mine for less than a month and it is very addicting.

I am already looking at about 10 "pens" which will actually be 10ft by 10ft screened canopies, to keep my breeds separate... I figure $100 each, 1 per month, and they should be ready for NEXT year's hatching....

Okay, today is worse than yesterday in terms of illness. Its a sinus infection, and I know what it is from, so I am NOT contagious. But I had to go to work today for driving certification course. And I can't actually WORK without it, so I had no choice. Unfortunately, that meant standing out in the misty cold for most of the day (minus about 15 minutes for instruction, and another 15 minutes for my own test.

Came home and made sure to feed the flock before laying down. They had been free-ranging, so I also herded them into the pen, and noticed I am missing one of my two leghorn hens. I did not stay out long enough to do a complete search, but it is possible she was hiding today's egg in the woods somewhere. All others are accounted for though, and I got to witness my LF Polish roo breed with a bantam pullet. Yeah, I guess it really is possible to breed bantam to LF! Too bad that particular pullet has not started laying yet. But he definitely got her.

So I'm laying in bed now with the eternal "stuck sneeze" of a sinus infection, and waiting a little longer to go see if the missing leghorn has gone to roost on the side of the pen. That's how I will know if she is truly gone. Then it's cold medication and SLEEP!
