YO GEORGIANS! :)

I do believe I am not being appreciated around here.  Not a singe comment about my geese post either.  But that's ok.  I ain't mad.  Oh no.  I'll just go sign up over at Loserwithnofriends.com now.

Its exciting that you're getting geese! I'm getting geese. I think. If Ltygress is still getting eggs. Getting sebastopols.

Roboduck, I'll take the bait: Congrats on your geese connection! May your geese not be too loud, nor bite every freakin' thing that moves :). And surely you could've anticipated a little hen-pecking here, no ;)?!

Almost, yes. But I can normally see my roo's face a bit more, and his comb is that dark red mulberry color - the kind that actually looks like red coloring on black skin.

Well, I'm getting Pilgrims and they are supposed to be among the nicest of gooses. There, I feel better now. I got to talk about my future geeses.

Yes, I should be. They are paid for, at least!

She said right now she doesn't trust the eggs because they are all frozen. So they've been breakfast lately. But she is still in touch!

Another option.. When we have culled we had friends show us how to use an upside-down traffic come with a small length cut from the end to allow the bird's head and neck ONLY to come through. You ease the bird (upside down) into the cone and cut the jugular. Absolutely no struggle, very peaceful. I was so impressed!

Ok, I found the video - I like that she didn't need any extra equipment (except an apron, and a basic place to hang them for further processing), which is sometimes hard to find when you need to make a quick decision. She had almost no fuss, and was so very gentle and respectful with the bird.
