YO GEORGIANS! :)

I would show y'all my hatchin tray but the mods would say its indecent...am sure abmaddox knows what I'm talkin about, right? My egg is on Day #21 and no pip yet :( but it is at a slightly lower temp. The vessels are shrinking, which is good. :) Chick still moves but not a whole lot...getting cramped in there!! :fl

So I've read. I have such mixed feelings about this. I don't like GMO anything, including chickens. But, if I were to raise them myself, at least I would know what goes into them. I hear they don't anything like store-bought when you raise them at home. But these are very economical, since they grow so quickly and won't consume as much feed as heritage breeds, which take much longer to mature.

For those of you who use non-broiler, dual-purpose breeds, at what age do you typically harvest them for meat?

I've heard to avoid "dual purpose" birds, as they aren't great at either purpose...

I'm getting Red Rangers from McMurray. They are supposed to be good foragers and are ready to butcher in about 80 days.

Ventured into the Canton (Hickory Flat) TSC today.

They have cornish rocks (straight run), SLW (straight run), RIRs (pullets), Americaunas (Pullets - but they had no beards or muffs from what I could tell...), and ducklings that didn't show a breed (picture below.) Minimum purchase, 6 chicks or 2 ducklings.
