YO GEORGIANS! :)

This got posted to all of the regional threads to try and get signers for an online petition to allow a little girl to keep her roo. I do think it's a worthy cause, but don't really like the mass cross-posting that this person did to publicize it......

Baby platypi
That's an awesome description of just-hatched babies :). Here I am, doing the daily "catch up to the end of the thread", and I just got stuck for ten minutes on this photo! I had to gawk at the babies and the pretty variety of eggs, then the little zookeeper came into the room and saw it, so she had to take her turn gawking. Threw me for a loop when she asked "Are they dry yet? When can I pet them?", until I realized she thought they were ours. She was most unhappy when she looked at ours and I told her we had a week to go yet. We have hatching envy over here...

Exactly. It reminds me way too much of Facebook and the "like this pic of a young girl with cancer to heal her"

Are we aiming for a cause here, or popularity?

Or are we farming emails/active accounts? Since Mr. Zookeeper works in internet security, I have online trust issues. On the surface, it is a worthy cause, but we in GA. can't help anybody in OR; even the most local petitions rarely work to change politicians minds.

My thoughts exactly!

North GA, Catoosa County. Looking to relocate soon and need to find a place where I can find affordable land where I can keep my 3 pet chickens!! A lot of places won't allow them. I have on mongrel hen (good layer) one Orpington (also a good layer) and one rooster who is supposed to be half Rhode Island Red and half Cornish Rock, a BIG, friendly rooster! I just lost my brown leghorn to a coyote a couple of weeks ago. I'd have her for about four or five years so I'm pretty POd at coyotes right now. I don't dare let the rest loose so they are stuck in a small pen at the moment.

Sorry about your loss; it's never easy. As for relocating, I think Rockdale County has some pretty permissive animal ownership regulations. Henry county is pretty strict, unless you have a decent size acreage (over 3-4 acres) not located near any owned by local politicians.

Okay I need a hygrometer? Where in Walmart would I find this? I don't dare ask someone, their head may explode.

IF you could find one at Walmart, it would be in the kitchen gadgets section -with dish towels, serving spoons, potato peelers, etc. Our Walmart only had digital thermometers to hang in freezers/fridges, with no humidity readings, so I'm off to Bed, Bath, and Beyond today to check their selection out. My last resort is Petsmart in the reptile section; but they're bound to be a bit more expensive for those reptile-labeled things.
