Apparently. No lie, it's about a foot across and the top of the "burrow" almost touches the top of the cage. Smh. She can't have more than 4 and I'm betting less. Weirdo rabbit.

You'd be surprised. I had a mini-rex give birth to eight before.

I'm giving it a few more days. After talking to a few other people, it may just be slow. I'm not holding out too much hope but we'll let it ride for now.

Had a nice visit with @mrsdszoo
yesterday.  Hopefully the kitties fared well overnight.  I'm sure they are fine because they have more shelter there than they did here

16 buff orpington eggs in the incubator and a rabbit in the freezer.  The handsome husband and I are going to have to psyche ourselves up to eating it.  I found a recipe for rabbit stew that looks interesting.

I think I will be spending my day cleaning house while my daughter has homeschool co-op.  Ya'll have a good day!

Rabbit stew is amazingly awesome!!!!! I love rabbit. Just think of it as a weird looking chicken you have to cut up. Once you try it,,,,,,yum. Just like anything else. You either love it or hate it. I love love love it let us know what you think after you try it.

LTYgress How is Lola doing?????

I haven't gotten her to play enough to roll on her back, but oh boy does she play! Yesterday we were like cats. I would wiggle my fingers and then reach forward and grab her beak. I let her grab me a few times on purpose, and she gently grabbed my hand with her beak and then kinda "tossed" it back away from her, haha! I started to take a nap yesterday and she just quietly walked up to me and snuggled under my hand and tried to fall asleep with me. Then she realized that my pajama pants have satin bows on them, and started preening one of them.


The boys haven't spent NEARLY enough time with her. But she has a good companion either way. It's probably going to drive her crazy when I go to work on Saturday and I'm gone for 8-10 hours.

My sister kept the heat on all night. For some reason, my room always gets the warmest, and it's not even the smallest room. So I kept the window open all night. That made it perfect.


The funny thing is, I had JUST loaded my AC unit into the window on Tuesday, and was actually using it yesterday MORNING between the high temperaures and the work I did outside. By last night, I was shoving everything I could around it to stop drafts (BEFORE my sister turned the heat on)!

The only one I fight over the thermostat with is my husband, and he's part polar bear. I have a very narrow comfort zone, so I'm often adjusting the thermostat a hair here and a hair there. I would love to sleep with windows open when it's a tad warmer out, but this subdivision echoes with barking dogs at the crack of dawn. Can't wait to live on the farm, and then it'll only be roosters and turkeys . The noisiest dog at the house is less than ten feet from my bedroom window; he's lucky I like dogs.

I haven't actually gone outside this morning, beyond the front steps, but I checked on everyone through the back window.

The screen arbor that I got for the EE's actually held up to last night's winds! BIG points scored there! That was one of the biggest problems I had read with it, and we don't ACTUALLY have it anchored down with 8 stakes. We only have four at the moment. But I'll probably be attaching nails to the bottom plastic flap just to keep the chickens from finding a way out (only one has done so, and only the first day, but just in case). So if anyone else was considering this as a cheap chicken coop, it's starting to look REALLY good! Remember, something did get TO it on the outside, because I noticed a "trail" of imperfections in the screen. But still nothing inside of it yet, and it's spring so all of the animals should be waking up looking for food. Chicken must not be on their menu yet...

The tarp on top of the Sumatra pen also held up. But the front and back of that are equal with the top of the pen, and only the sides hang down, so the wind probably just found a different path of less resistance, and left that tarp alone.

Also, the clear corrugated plastic on the silkie coop stayed put. The first day it was there, the wind blew the top off. But I only had those thin finishing nails without heads to them, and the plastic just went right up off the nails. This time I left a good bit of the nail sticking up and then hammered it sideways to bend OVER the plastic so it couldn't just lift straight up and off. Apparently it worked, and the corrugated plastic stayed put!

The plywood on top of the frizzle pen, however (and the heaviest "lid" by far) got lifted up a bit and slid over. Not completely off of it, but enough to leave an opening they could get out of. Thankfully, they've never been out of it, and all of them were still in there this morning.

Haven't checked the others, including the outside brooder, because I can't see them from inside. But I'll check soon.

Still got the three goose eggs developing, and still no sign YET from the other five. But it's too early.

Lola is sleeping right now, because the 18-year-old has been faking illness the past two days to stay home, and doesn't wake up before noon. So the entire room is darkened and even if I took the cover off of her cage it's too dark for her to really wake up. I'll get her anyway in about an hour.

Nothing else to really report here. Payday is today and I've got to make my car payment and go grocery shopping. That means lots of fresh veggies for Lola and the chickens, my usual big pile of tuna cans for the chickens, lots of nuts and fruit for Lola, lots of fruit for the turtles, apples and potatoes for the mealworms and crickets, more apple cider vinegar for the vinegar eels to feed baby fish with... um did I miss anyone?

Oh and maybe something for myself too. Maybe. My animals eat SO much better than I do! LOL!

Yeah, it was a first litter for the doe that gave birth to 8. I will admit that three didn't make it (one was obviously the first born because he was all stretched out like she had issues getting him out and the other two were underdeveloped and smaller than they should have been), but there were still 8 babies inside of that little gut!
