YO GEORGIANS! :)

Welcome to the newbies.

Are you wanting purebred Ameraucanas or easter eggers? Easter eggers can be mixed breed or even a pure Ameraucana who doesn't match breed standard, but has the blue egg gene. Blue and brown are mixed to make green (go figure), so those are definitely mixed breed "easter eggers".

Also, are you looking for chicks or adults? Or does it matter?

I did no research on my first purchases and came home with cornish rocks and they eat a ton. Think they might be bound for the grill.

Next week my daughter heads back to your neck of the woods after spring break. I could send down some dual-purpose Buff Orpingtons about 3 weeks old. I'm afraid your Cornish are destined for freezer. Another thing to watch for with those is "green muscle disease". Not only do they grow freakishly fast and die early if not processed young, but letting them roam around and use those giant muscles contributes to essentially the chest muscles getting the circulation cut off, and gangrene sets in. When you process the bird, you find green muscles :(. So even letting them try to be normal chickens for a while does them no favor. That's why I switched to a dual-purpose breed like the BO.

Hi New peeps and everyone; also, goodnight everyone ;). I thought I could catch up and spend some time here, but I'm up way past bed time tonight. See you in the morning :).

Liked your page! I wanted to share it on my fan page (Crunchy Parenting Page with about 6k fans on it http://www.facebook.com/LittleCrunchy ) but your page came up oddly and wouldn't let me? Feel free to post your link on my fan page! I know other crunchy families are getting into chickens!

Awesome!! I have a Marans working its way out to join my only lonely (thank goodness!!), but it's surprisingly quiet. Looks good though.

Still no Silkie, but they were behind the others anyway so I haven't given up hope yet. :) I wasn't the greatest mom this hatch, lol. I think my temp must've run low more than I thought.

My Silkie eggs seem to be the least fragile. The first time I hatched them I had serious issues with my temps the whole time. Those little beggers popped out right on time, half the LF were DIS and the others were late.
