YO GEORGIANS! :)

Hey Coach! Welcome

Hmm...advice. Let's see; sleep when the kid sleeps, and get the little critter on a schedule early or you'll be an insomniac in no time. Don't let them sleep in your bed -you'll never get them out. And, one they get even remotely mobile, don't blink

. Oh wait, did you mean chickens? They're way easier

Be careful with hay in your coop; some chickens are prone to eating it and can get impacted crops. No fun -often requires surgery. Have a plan to deal with mud in your coop before it becomes a problem -then share with those of us who didn't and now are paying for it. That's all I've got until I have more coffee.

PS -congrats on the new addition

Thanks for info on the kid and chickens. I have no doubt that they will be easier...at least they won't directly talk back. So with the hay, is it better to use something else or what?

That shoulda been Valdosta.... stupid smart phone lol and what is a chicken railroad???

WOOHOO! Somebody that didn't ignore me!

I have no doubt GAM will corrupt you soon.

But in the meantime... the chicken railroad. We have a network of "relays" for getting things moved around the state. If you need something from north Georgia, say Ellijay or Ballground, one of those people could meet someone close to them and transfer it to them. And then so on and so forth until it gets to you and no one has had to drive an extreme distance. Of course this depends on what it is how fast it has to move. And who has the equipment available to move said item. Get to know the folks here. Other than being mean, rude and hateful to me, they're actually great to know for everyone else.

I used hay this winter in an attempt to keep my coops warmer, but wound up with one of my best girls needing surgery. I didn't have a problem using the large flake shavings beforehand, so I'm cleaning my coops and going back to just shavings. I'll just make them deeper for cold weather; I noticed that the birds will make a nest in them even when perches are available during frigid weather.
