The first night that our girls were out, we put them in the coop and had to actually place them on the roost. The 2nd night, they went in on their own, but we had to put them on the roost. Then every night since then, they have gone in and bedded themselves. It's funny to watch the "boss," our EE, trying to get the other girls to come in. Our Buffs will come in, but in their own sweet time. Yesterday, the EE was fussing from the door, and the Buff was on top of the coop.I'm happy to report the brahmas survived their first night outside in the chicken tractor. Although, instead of sleeping under the shelter of the tarp, or roosting, they slept out front in the open. Silly chicks!! That worried me a little. How soon should I expect them to start roosting?
