YO GEORGIANS! :)

I thought I already typed this post, but I must have hallucinated it before I dozed off on the couch. Anyhow, I had a pretty decent rainy day. I went with abmaddox and chickenrunner to pick up their Cotton Patch Geese babies and got to check out the rest of the critters there a little. I'm so in love with Ancona ducks! And I really like those Basque chickens too. I'm seeing the need for another coop down the road, after I build a duck enclosure. Oh, and it seems that Roboduck made quite an impression on the farmer; he was happy to talk about that visit. I was amused by the way that these birds have created a network of fans :).

And the hatching madness has slowly begun ...

1 Splash Marans out so far, another BCM egg has pipped ... at least two Partridge Brahmas have pipped ... and I wasn't expecting anything for a few days yet.

And the school hatching project is due to hatch this week, too. I'll need to be there to help with that.

Babies, babies everywhere!
how many are you expecting?

I will be sure to report in detail.  Thank you again so much for your contribution.  I wish I could share the absolute joy and excitement on their faces when they realized what they were getting to do.  They are so, so, so excited.

I have often sat and wondered how to work a project like this into a middle school science curriculum :). Remind me to ask you when we get to visit sometime, how you got started in this sort of thing. I'm adding it to my wish list of things to do.

And I have resources, links, projects, etc. that I can share.

There is no brooder big enough for the mess that ducks make.

^^ What she said.

Just one week of having a duckling "brooder" indoors was enough to make me want to pass out everytime I passed that room, and cause severe harm to whoever had the idea of keeping them in there.
