YO GEORGIANS! :)

Ok, frustration level is building. Vent will start in 3....2.....1

[startvent] I have been trying to get Pilgrim geese for a while now. I found two separate sources to ensure the geese would be unrelated and could safely be bred. Got an email from one source saying they had started getting eggs. Great. A few days later... we have some eggs but can't guarantee fertility, wanna take the chance? Sure. WTH. Send them. A couple of weeks go by and I hear nothing. Then an apology email for the time that had gone by.. apparently she had been pretty sick. Ok, I can forgive that. Follow up email... give us your address so we can calculate shipping. Information sent. Haven't heard from them since. That was 2 or 3 weeks ago.

Second source...calls me on a Wednesday. HEY! We are starting to get eggs. Send us money and your eggs will be shipping Monday after we collect over the weekend. Money sent. 3 weeks later.... no eggs, no phone calls.

And to add to my frustration, I can't find any more Pilgrims for sale anywhere. And this place is just maddening... http://www.heritageturkeyhatchery.com/orderinformation.htm EVERYTHING is sold out that I clicked on. Including Pekins. Really? Pekins? Sold out? They sell first come first paid first served. But I can not for the life of me figure out how to contact them to make a payment or get on a waiting list.

I really want my Pilgrims!!!!!!! [endvent]

70 + chickens, boy and I thought two to 17 was going crazy lol. But yes these guys grow on you. My two oldest are 4 months now and except for color of comb and wattles there is no difference. Both have rounded feathers and no obvious sickle feathers yet. If anyone can look in my albums I updated yesterday with a photo of them. Im thinking Holland on the grey and buff orpington on the golden one. I have nothing but pics to go by here since no one can even tell me local names. Due to the redder comb on the grey my niece says its a roo. How much longer before I should have a clue to sexes since these guys feathers had been cut when I bought them they might otherwise have shown by now? They were 1 1/2 months when I got them aprox.
Those chickmunk looking ones what are they? A few of my little ones looked like them? Will try and post photo but internet here and being on a tablet gives me issues. Nope, look in the Libyan chick's last images.

Coffee...

Back to work today. Ugh. And it's raining. But that will probably make it a good thing. I tend to get really warm at work pushing a cart that won't roll, and lifting lots of boxes and trays full of mail all the time. But the rain and cool temps keep me cool.

And with a straight vertical angle on my window, and about a foot between me and the door, I don't get hit with rain while driving, either.

But still. Ugh. I love my job. I just hate having a schedule to work at all. Wish I had my own hours!

5 English ORP babies!!

OMG!!!!! I want to come see them!!!! The little lavenders you already have, I'm in love with!!! I'm also in love with your Marans rooster and your big Barred rooster!!!!! I'm learning so much so fast..... When I see the pictures on the net it just doesn't appeal to me, but in person is a totally different story.
I thought I had this whole chicken thing wired, but I am finding out the only thing I have completely figured out is the construction part. Even during the down pour yesterday I must have gone out to check on the chickens ten times. I need to build more cover for the chickens. I'm sure they weren't to effected by the rain, but I didn't like seeing them all bundled ontop of each other in the few places I did have covered.

@Abmaddox has really been a blessing for me. Right at the time I had to deal with some pretty serious health issues, unknowing to her, we have both been leaning on each other for support. So on this Easter weekend I am so very greatful for all the blessings I have received and all the new friends I have made. I hope everyone has a Blessed Easter and can spend time with your loved ones.

Yeah mine spent all day in the 4 x 8 coop and they weren't happy about it (they did not want to go out in the pouring rain).

I am going to buy a couple of those plastic roofing panel things at the hardware store today and add a few feet of coverage outside of their coop so they have more room on rainy days, it will also provide more shade.

My gosh, I let MY girls out yesterday in the rain and couldn't believe them! They acted like it was sunny & 75.. I went out and they were way on out in the pasture.. Came running to me and they were soaked! Looked hilarious. When they realized I didn't have treats they took off in the rain again. LOL. :idunno
