YO GEORGIANS! :)

Well, I lost my white silkie HEN to a predator last night. It's almost definitely the same one that got the white roo and black hen, because it went in and out the same exact way!

THANKFULLY, I have about four white chicks I'm waiting to grow up, and then the blue silkies from McMurray too.
Oh no!!

Who, or what, is the culprit??

Is anyone in the market for Salmon Faverolles? I have 2 males and 2 females (9 weeks old) that I'd like to sell. I have ended up with way too many chickens LOL

Dang! I really wish I could. It's yet another breed I'd love to try out. I have no room for them though.

Ugh! I need more pens...

I'm not sure. Either a possum or raccoon. They are getting in UNDER the side of the pen. The ground is uneven, so the sides of the pen don't touch where they should. But whatever it is, keeps going in from the same corner - not even directly under the side. And it's actually the FURTHEST corner from the woodline, telling me it's a repeat offender.

Sneaky little sucker!

I used stakes to drive into the wire around my pens. So far, this has kept any would-be predators from sneaking into my pens at night. Any way that could be done to your pen?

Not really. It's a cheap pen (a screen arbor to be exact) and doesn't stay down. It just rips where the stake is located, and tears away from it.

Well unfortunately enough its looking like both my mallards are going to be male. If that turns out I may have to sell one, though I really don't want to. Hopefully one will develop a quack in a week or so I'm going to have to give up on them being female. :( Anyone in the market for a mallard drake?

Update on the little commercial meat hen we got! She doesn't seem to have bumble foot, no black scab, the sacs are flat and aren't filled with pus. It seems like she may just have a deformity. At any rate, her leg has become stronger and she no longer just sits. Shes standing and moving around and she's starting to learn how to get around on her foot. Her feathers are growing in and she looks wonderful. Nature has such a fantastic way of healing it's little creatures and it has been amazing watching her recover. :)
