Just got our "Your chicks have shipped" email. I'm a bit nervous about the shipment. We've had problems with regular packages coming through some of the Atlanta post offices being delayed. No sleep until after they are here for me...

If it's live chicks, the Atlanta sorting facility usually sends them on right away with absolutely no delay. If it's eggs, that's another story and will depend more on how well they were packed.

I'm still waiting on someone to send me eggs from an auction I won a week and a half ago...

Thanks for the info! Yes, they are live chicks 13 of them from MPC. I hope they do arrive here tomorrow. Worried about the weather going across the US messing up the shipment.

I hope you get your eggs soon and they are in great shape for hatching!

Anyone know where I can buy a variety of chicks from a local person? I really don't want to buy from a hatchery. However, I an looking for some specific breeds. Any thoughts?

What's left out of all of these chicks:

Silver Sebright Bantam - 1
Phoenix Female - 1
Buff Laced Polish Female - 1
Phoenix Male - 1

Those are some REALLY CRAPPY ODDS! Especially since only ONE of them was killed by a predator (the White Polish Male). All the rest died of unknown causes. MOST of them were fine one minute, and dead the next. Just dropped dead out of the blue!

Meanwhile, I admit I have lost 8 of my own chicks. But one of those was weak out of the shell and just didn't survive more than a few days, one actually got his head caught in a small hole in the brooder (which has since been patched), and six were killed by a predator. So the deaths of the chicks I actually hatched out, had "reasons" behind them.

But to lose 45 out of 49 chicks that I PAID FOR, from mysterious causes, just doesn't make sense.

One of friends from school has some Silver Seabrights, Frizzled Cochins and I think a few other ones that are all show quality. I could ask her about the eggs for those (she's not on BYC). Remind me where you live? I didn't really think about that, it may pose a problem.

I have some fertile duck eggs available free for the asking near Tifton. Don't ask the breed cause don't know. They could either be runner/Pekin mix or runner/Welshy mix.
Most likely some of both.

Well, that's the good thing about eggs. They can be shipped really cheap! I've shipped some to North Georgia before, and it only cost about $5. And I'd send her money for the shipping. I'm located in the town of Jackson, about halfway between Atlanta and Macon.

Yes, please do ask her what she has. I'm not interested in BLACK frizzles, but any other color would be good.

What color runners? I MAY be interested. But it might have to wait until the 22nd when I get paid again, so I can pay you for shipping - depending on what Prinette finds out from her friend.
