YO GEORGIANS! :)

So, wrong-way is still very much alive and active, and I'm pretty sure now that he'll make it.. Assuming he can figure his way out now. LOL

Three other EE crosses pipped, two more EE and two BLRW to go.. Although I'm 99% sure the BLRW won't hatch as I have yet to have ANY hatch. Glad that pair is gone as I now think maybe they were too closely related, judging by how crummy their eggs do..?

Ugh. Didn't sleep all night laying awake and thinking about what chicks might be hatching! Got up super early and went to the garage hoping to see a pile of chicks running all over. Stood still for over 30 minutes just watching and listening! Didn't hear a thing, didn't see a thing! My broody has those chicks up under her really well. I decided to put some food near her and she went right for it, gobbling it up! As she did, I could see at least 5 eggs still not hatched. Three of them were from my Olive egger, so they must not have been fertile. (I really couldn't see thru them when I candled them so I let them stay). Still don't know if there are any more than 2 chicks under her! The waiting is the worst! Anticipation can be fun, but oh the patience!

I believe if I was that anxious, I would just pick her up and look.

I value my hands! This broody is not one that I raised from a chick. We got her as a hen and therefore not like my other sweet hens. MY hens would let me reach under them and do whatever, but not this one! Besides, I want her to trust me not to bother her if she doesn't want me to.

Well then it's certainly not for lack of responsible behavior on her part, it sounds like! :) That IS a miserable wait though. It's bad enough when we can look through a bator window and see what's going on!!

You know, I really lucked out with my broods girl from summertime.. I got her as an adult but yet she was (and still is) the sweetest most patient Mama.. I handled her lots during her brooding and she would do nothing more than "growl" at me. Never offered to peck though. Fluke, I'm sure.

Well, still only see two chicks. I saw 7 unhatched eggs!!!! So disappointed! Maybe they just need longer as it is in the 50's in the garage. Maybe that is why she is sitting so tight....waiting for others! This a.m. is just starting day 22. Here are the photos from today
