So I was at the store and saw these boxes all piled up. I ran over to them all excited only to find that the only thing in the boxes were shoes! Why do they want to tease me like that?!?

So I just found out about these. I know a lot of people are very against trapping but I am very against losing so many birds. So anyone disturbed by trapping, don't watch this....
BTW, it's not graphic or anything, it just shows one catching a coon.

That said..... these at least only catch the intended target and not the neighbors' dogs and cats.... or goats or chickens or anything else. These can be set inside your fence without harming your own livestock.

I bought the Duke brand off Amazon for about 20 bucks each.

Oh, and I learned the hard way so I'm having to make a separate order..... Splurge the 8 bucks for the setting tool.

So Sad. Sold my baby chicks. (Well, that is a good thing,) Yea, sold the little crowing 12 day old one, too. (I did keep the little frizzle one, but may sell it if I get another one that isn't white) I was glad the guy didn't ask me if I knew if they were males or females.. Since I am an honest person, I would have told him, but he didn't ask.

Lockdown for my 32 eggs in the bator is tomorrow! More chicks soon!

Robo, No, I didn't really think there were chicks inside the boxes, since I was in the shoe department, but it's funny that the first thing that my mind thought of was chickens! That reminds me of the time my DH and I traveled to FL and I see this big sign out front of a building flashing the numbers 99.50! And, I asked my DH "Why is that company flashing incubator numbers?" And he just sadly shook his head and said, "That's the price of the rooms at that hotel"

Frizzled turkens!??!?!?!?!?!?!?!

So let me tell you about our week here at Elyse Marie's Chick-Chick Ranch. Last week i got one of my two show girl roosters back from a friend of mine. Well this week we have been hearing what i thought was the large barn owl that lives in the woods behind my house. Well it turns out the "Woooooooo Ohhhhhhhh" sound isn't a large barn owl, nor is it a coyote howling. It's apparently my show girls crow. My turken and my barnyard mix both crow like a traditional rooster but apparently this little fella has his own very unique form of crowing. Lucky for me, my neighbors will never have any idea what's going on. So that brings us to free ranging. Over the last week i have been spreading scratch near the coop/run at around 2-3 hours before dark and just before dark (when it's too cold for me to want to be outside with them anymore) i will guide them back into the run and lock it up for the night. Well tonight was the first time i wanted to see how they would do putting themselves up for the evening 100%. Well the turken roo, the barnyard mix roo, the white silkie x turken and the black turken pullet all were roosting on the top of the chunnel leading into the coop and the frizzle was roosting on top of the PVC feeder tubes. I might have to stick with putting them up manually for a little while...

I have 4 going to lockdown tomorrow also. Both of my cochins have decided to go broody at the same time and share the same nest and eggs. I swapped there eggs for a batch of turkyes today.
