YO GEORGIANS! :)

What he said ... Mutts are wonderful. Pure bred is fine too but they don't care. Its about the process and then the super cuteness. And they aren't particular about the chicks when they want to take them home.

And while I appreciate the offer I think the eggs would be too old by the time we set them. Incubators get turned on the 23rd and the eggs don't go in until 2-3 days after that. :(
I was going to give you the Friday 13th eggs but yeah they may be too old by then. If you wanted them my next question was how to prepare them for the 2+hour journey. :) I haven't packed eggs yet for transport or shipping. I will not refrigerate the eggs I get on the 13th if you change your mind you can have them. A few may be Silkie mixes. I have quite a few roosters 3 of them are Silkie.

My DH and I went to Athens today for him to get a few things from work so I thought I would go to Trader Joe's and get some of their fertile eggs to try hatching in my shiny new incubator but the one in Athens doesn't have the fertile eggs.

However they now have a drive through of sorts. Just before we got there a car ran into the front brick area of the store. We saw a total of 4 accidents being cleaned up on our little Athens trip.

What is UP lately?? Friday it was down here where the woman ran through the Buffalo Wild Wings and killed the 19-year-old. Crazy!!

I have found that 2.5 to 3 week old eggs are viable. 2 years ago I lost my big RIR roo he was gorgeous and I scrambled to collect eggs and get an incubator well some of the eggs were 3 weeks and the rest on average were at the 2 to 2.5 mark, it was winter and I only had 3 hens that didn't lay every day. but out of 9 eggs I collected I had 9 hatch. I kept the eggs on the counter in the dining room and kept them moving at 45 degrees every so many hours. that was my first hatch so I don't know if it was just beginners luck or super healthy birds. Course a lot of prayers were said over those eggs so maybe some Devinne intervention took place. This was done before going into the bator

I would put them in a egg carton in a cool place in the car. give them some tipping to make sure the yolks aren't sticking anywhere and enjoy your ride, then I would put them at 45 degrees every so many hours, I did mine 3 times a day

Hear is what I heard about the Trader Joe's eggs. They are just the ones they sell in the store....refrigerated eggs! They don't say, "hatching eggs" I have heard many stories about people buying them and hatching them. You won't get many, but they will be white leghorns more than likely. I can get you some fertile eggs cheap...mine! They will be mixes except for the Swedish Flower ones....they are purebred. PM me and we can talk about them.
