YO GEORGIANS! :)

Unfortunately i've spent the last year and a half in a store with an excellent store manager who runs the business 100% by himself. I have learned absolutely nothing about the business in the time i have been there and the only way to fix that is to either be tossed in the deep end with a strong team around me or to go to a new store and start the learning process there.
Dawsonville I'll go for swaps, where ever it is lol a road to a friends place is never long!! Cliff question I bought what the girl said to be and they were labeled as such the white leghorns 2 hen chicks, but they are growing so fast and are so heavy could they be broilers? and if so at what age do you do the dasterly I know i spelled it wrong deed? The girl that was so knowledgeable in the chicken area has not been seen in a while so I think she quit, I think the management needs tweaking there too.
I advertised my baby ducks for $5 each. One lady called and said, "I see you are asking $5 for each duck. For that price, do they come with starter kits like food and habitat?" Really!?!?

Then another lady called to see if I had any left. I told her I had 3 left. She said she only wanted one for Easter for her little girl. Ummm, NO! After the first week, if it survived, then what!?

And, I heard a sad story yesterday. At my feedstore, my friend was telling me one guy came in and bought 30 baby ducks........he was training his dog to retrieve. So sad for the baby ducks. I have never thought about it before, how they train those dogs.

Then, I get a text and the person writes, "Can you deliver tomorrow for science fair"

I wrote, "Not sure what you are talking about. "

Then they wrote, "Chicks to my school for science fair"

Must be some kid and who knows where they live!

People are weird!
ok I want one of your ducks with the whole set up and don't forget to deliver to Rome

, we should use that guy for a training dummy, even I know they make training ducks.

UPDATE

My bantam boy Fred who I thought was lost had gone under the house, we heard him this morning, nothing like being woke up to crowing from under your bed!!! I leave a vent open so the cats can go in if they want and if it is cold to get a warmer space or they go to the barn and lay in the hay but anyway there is nothing under there for them to hurt, our A/C comes in from the attic.

I'm so glad Fred is ok!

Please be patient with me I can't remember what I've posted where lately.

Update on our Granddaughter, they have been running tests on her to try and figure out why her heart rate keeps dropping and also why she is still spitting up so much while on a feeding tube. So far they have done X-rays, Lower GI, Blood work and she was tested for a UTI but nothing so far has shown up as the problem. They will do an upper GI today. Please keep her and our daughter and son in law in your prayers. The young couple is having a hard time with this as to be expected. It is heart breaking seeing such a tiny life go through so much.

On a happier note, I'm hatching again! The incubator is full and humming joyfully away (hoping it keeps on humming correctly). I've got Black Australorp, NHR over Chocolate Barred Rock, NHR Pure (not seeing veins yet) NHR over Dorking, a couple of Cochin Silkie X, some gamefowl and Silkie d'uccle X. I had to take my Silver Silkie eggs to my neighbor for him to hatch in his cabinet along with more gamefowl because both my broody girls quit with the last cold snap we had.

I still have 19 chicks in the brooder and there is a good bit of twittering like song birds which probably means a few Roo in the brooder.

I'm not sure if any on here a familiar with Gamefowl chicks but I have noticed that they keep plucking out some of their own feathers. I remembered that my neighbor had a problem with his gamefowl chicks doing this in the past so I looked it up. It seems that they may need more protein than some of the other chicks. I started giving them scrambled eggs once a day and they are now on a higher protein feed. I hope this fixes the problem.

It's the only store i have applied to but as i said i am not the most qualified candidate. The DM would definitely be taking the underdog route with me.
Well the UD would to me be the best choice because you would work harder to prove your self, just get ready for stress off the map. but I hope the DM would take a chance, keep positive

Bad news! Almost four weeks old and it looks like one of my chicks might have broken her leg somehow. It's splaying out weirdly to the side when she walks and she's limping badly.I have them on wood chips, so it shouldn't be a slippery floor for them. I don't know what to do.... Is there any way to splint a chicken leg? Is there any hope for her?
I'm so heartbroken... The RIRs were the only ones where I was pretty sure I had some hens, and of course it's one of the two.

I would try to splint it, with tooth picks and bread ties, course depending on how big she is. you may have to resort to popcicle sticks

Popcicle sticks. Definitely popsicle sticks. I'm having trouble getting her to hold still and my boyfriend is scared to hold them for some reason. Hopefully I can convince her to hold still long enough to put the splint on!

Somebody is popping under a bloody Silkie. This should be fun.
Stupid auto-correct ....pipping under a broody Silkie.
