Hey group :frow
Been awhile since I have posted anything on here but I do lurk in the shadows abit But anyway I have some black Australorp chicks that are in need of a good home I am asking $3 each if anyone is needing some chicks They are healthy and cute Will be waiting by the puter to hear from anyone :caf

Where u b? I am on my phone and can't see locations.

I'm in, so we're halfway there. Now to work on the DW. I checked my email between posts and they said they were out for now but should have more in two weeks. That would be about right. Apparently,we aren't the only folks wanting guinea eggs.

I will be going to Robo's, too!  Are we doing a pot luck lunch???  I'll bring eggs!  LOL!

Bring all the eggs you want but leave the pot at home.

Got a question I'm thinking about just leavings my eggs in the turner for lockdown and just cutting it off because when I put them in the bottom of my hovobater the temp is different has anyone ever tried this do you think it's a good idea

that is funny. I think we have limits, for now...
Quote: Ok. So space is kind of an issue. We do have a 4x4 dog house that is abandoned and in good shape. That would be if we were to keep one. The coop would be a 8x4 ft structure, so possibly big enough for all? As far as keeping 2 roos, I was wondering if that was possible. The 2 in question squared of quite a bit when they were reintegrated but now seem to do it much less. In fact, when they bed down at night. they're always together. I'm more worried about annoying the shite out of neighbors with noise. The one closest to us said he didn't mind if we had a rooster, but two wasn't part of the deal. I'd have to check with the other 2 and if they don't mind, I don't mind. But, then is 2 roos and 8 hens going to be trouble? We definitely don't have space, funds or experience to start a flock that is huge. Yet...

Ah. I would get them if you were closer. Long drive for chicks. Of course they'd be half grown by the time I could work driving up there into my schedule.

Yep. Just turn off the turner and leave them be. They won't know the difference.

Now to help you out.... If space is the issue then get rid of one rooster, get your additional hens. The more hens, the less stress each one gets from constant breeding. If you just don't think two roosters can live together, that usually not the case for birds that grow up together.
We have roosters running around all over the place that get along fine. And they weren't even raised together. They just got used to each other and established their heirarchy. No problems.

8 hens would do well with 1 rooster.

Also, this is all based on IF they are in fact roosters. A couple of experienced chicken friends say based on iphone photos and behavior descriptions, they suspect at least one. One, is perfectly ok. If they're not, We're still getting additional hens (I'm already addicted, imagine that) and the Golden Girls remain The Golden Girls and no changes necessary. Fingers crossed...
