YO GEORGIANS! :)

Only one egg from these made it to lockdown. She only lays 4 or 5 per month. 2 OEGB Crele eggs were set with the rest, one stopped after blastoderm developed

What kind are they?

Partridge Brahma from some NICE birds in OH, and some MFD from FL, also very pretty. :)

What would you do?  I have a young broody silkie who has been sitting on nothing for about 5 days.  I have 6 eggs in the bator that are due to hatch in about 10 days.  I took two of them out and put them in front of her.  She scooted them under her.  Should I go ahead and put all 6 under her now, or would you wait to see what she does with them?  I would like to clear the space in the bator, but this is her first time being broody and  I have two polish mixes and a NN as part of those 6 eggs and I don't want to lose them.  But, I also want the space by Tuesday.  That's when the ducks go into lockdown in the hatching bator and I will be adding new eggs to the incubator.  I guess I could add them on Monday.  Would she accept new ones then?  Don't have that much experience with broodies.  Thanks.
That's a tough one. Mine is a first timer as well and I thought she was doing great.. Finally gave her some mutt eggs and she took them under her. Two days later she nest-hopped on me. I was so mad at her!! I put the eggs in the bator and they're fine, but still..

It's hard to trust the first-timers, I learned. :/

I forget who asked for pics last night, but here are a couple of crappy iPhone shots of the base frame from yesterday. Today was spent mostly mapping out the puzzle of framing walls. The next pic shows a temporary (as in carefully perched) mock-up of the outer shape of the side walls. Inside will be 8'x4'. I'm pretty shocked that it is about 99% level. Squared? Probably not so much. But I did it.

And now, I'm going to Chik-fil-A for some dinner & a milkshake.
you don't remember me????

looking good so far ma'am! And there's something extra nice about finishing something and being able to say "I did that"

oh, something else, I can teach you a trick for getting it square before you go any farther, if you want.

Yes. New tricks are always welcome. I never did check to see if it was square. I'm assuming it's not. I have one of those L shaped ruler things(don"t know what it's called) but I've never actually used one before. The legs looked a little wonky to me but that sucker ain't going anywhere. I made the mistake of using 5" lag bolts, instead of 3 1/2". And no driver either. Hand cranked every one of those darn things with a ratchet. thirty two of them. I'll be doing makeup all day tomorrow with my left hand all bruised.

But at least now when I wave at folks, the backs of my arms won"t wave, too!

And yeah, it is a bit weird with the chicken. I remember a couple of weeks ago, sitting by the brooder talking to them with a chick-fil-a in my hand. I kinda felt bad for a few minutes. LOL
