YO GEORGIANS! :)

I would like yall's opinions about this chick. It hatched fine, I immediately notice it is 2 times the size of other chicks. Its abdomen is so big! No definitive tail stub but there is an anus. Its legs stay beside it's head so when it moves them it pops over like one of those toys! I tried banding the lower legs with a hobble type deal but the "flipping" seems to have to do with the thigh part of the leg. How would you hobble or hold them how they need to be? Onshavings he spends his time flipped over, on smooth surfaces he scoots so I have dubbed him Scooter. He should be culled really but he is so big abd active. Very healthy aside from doing yoga so much!

That sounds like a difficult one. Sometimes as much as we want to save them, they just didn't do right in the egg and can't be helped. We had a poult that was so calm and sweet but had seriously splayed legs. We tried for several days tying its legs to get them to grow right but it just wasn't to be and it had to be culled. GAM will be home in a little while. Maybe she will be able to think of a way to help yours.

And if anyone on the nw side wants keets..... http://nwga.craigslist.org/grd/4997736518.html

That was fast Robo! Do you stalk BYC waiting for posts when no one else is up yet?

I will try above the joint but am wary of popping the thighs out

Tried bandage tape last night but I'll pick up a pack of pipe cleaners while I'm out today. How long do folks leave chicks with the brood momma before selling them? Her last chick (only hatched one that time) was feathered at 4 weeks when she no longer let it go under her. Her chicks this time are now 3 weeks old and almost feathered. A buyer would have loud chicks trying to go under a momma that isn't there and not knowing what a heat light is. She hardly sits on them during the day butcdoes at night.
