YO GEORGIANS! :)

Hi newbies! I just hatched 14 chicks this weekend. I have 3 male Crested Cream Legbars for sale really cheap. I have two EE, two Silkie mixes, one pure Swedish Flower, and some other mixes. All $3. Some may be frizzles!

And, shoot me now! Just set 45 eggs in bator for a Fourth of July hatch! I WILL NOT PUT ANYMORE EGGS IN THE BATOR AFTER THIS!

Hey y'all! Luck is running poor today. As it so happens, while I was fooling around on my phone learning my new chickie social outlet & out in my shop/barn, a snake made its way into my bantham coop. (I only had 2 since someone took it upon themselves to claim the other 4 & we had bonded.) Regardless, the snake decided to take out my sweet black barred-rock cochin bantie rooster. There was no saving him even tho he was kicking when I ran up. :'( Anyway, this left his lil life mate with traumatized & no companion. The reds & Cali whites I have, attacked the lil ones before, so I know I cant put her with them. What can I do to help her? Can she be a pet? Does she have to have other chickens or can a full time TSC employee be her flock companion? I am terrified to put her back in the bloody coop. Im also scared the shock messed her up and dont know what to do. I will prolly keep her with me at work tonight or my Boyfriend might take her with him until he picks me back up.

What can I do to help my favorite sweet snuggling baby?

You should try to get other chicks, but in the meantime, put a morrow in with the baby. It really helps!

I was thinking of changing it out because of the little "extras" that can't be scooped. I may just do it your way, though. That sounds much easier!

If you were closer, I'd come help you with your coop. I just hauled out a bunch of bedding and replaced it in mine last weekend. I figured it had to be close to 6 months since I first did it. The deep litter method makes things so much simpler and my girls are quite happy.
hey what do you use to scoop with? I'm using a kitty litter scoop, but was reading another thread where people by those wire mesh paper trays in the office section at wally world and use those because they will filter more of those 'little extras'

IF I can remember the next time I go to walmart, I'll look at them and see if it really looks like a fine enough mesh to work better and get it and report back

Hey, I forgot to mention it today, but I had another rooster start crowing today. Not sure which one by the time i got out there he'd stopped. Sounded hilarious though, errr er er er errrrrrr.................,erp. LOL

He did it about 3 times and the other crowed and i never heard him again.

Also, my aussies are 12 weeks, one of which turned out to be a rooster, and I just saw him trying to mount one of the leghorn pullets. She was all, "thanks for flirting, but not interested at the moment" LOL
