YO GEORGIANS! :)

So the OE is out with minimal help, (Humidity turned up + wrapping in a wet paper towel softned up the membrane, but she wouldn't zip, just kept trying to squeeze out the air hole and peeping frantically. So I 'zipped' it for her and left her to kick out on her own) but the Orp seems to be glued in place. We're at 30+ hours past pip. She's breathing just fine and had zipped almost halfway before she got stuck so she has plenty of room to breathe. wet paper towel+humidity up hasn't softened the alumin (sp?) at all though and it looks like rubber cement?
Time to help or keep waiting?

Since I had it open I candled the rest, no internal pips yet but I'll keep waiting and hoping.
if it was me I'd help it like you did the first one, she may just get too tired and give up

Ok, both chicks are out. Leaving them in the bator tonight and we'll see how they do in the morning. Thanks so much for all the help and your patience guys!

I am looking for laying hens mainly. What should I look at when looking for breeds? Are there certain breeds that do better in the heat of southern part of the state? *apologies if I have asked this or it was discussed already*

Also, Hawks are bad around our farm, so I plan on covering my run (give them outside time while I'm at work) how strong does my covering need to be to protect from Hawks?
