YO GEORGIANS! :)

@GAchickennewbie

Where have you been hiding?

@ Rocky where are you? Anyone seen/or heard from him?

Heya Sunshine! How are ya?

I've been repainting the house, bottle-feeding a kitten, and trying not to lose my mind. lol!

I'll be in and out for a while yet. Still have the downstairs bathroom and bedroom to paint, then gonna refloor the first floor.

Decided to do the second floor of the house next year. Slow and steady wins the race. lol!

Oh how fun! I love doing stuff like that! When we moved in 3 years ago we did some renovation work. But now, I'm bored with what we've done, and want to change some of the colors. And even though it's pretty, the entire downstairs is all knotty pine, with wood floors. Which makes it dark and gloomy. It's like living in a big wood box. I'm trying to convince the DH that it needs to be painted so it looks less dated and depressing. I hope you're gonna share some before and after pics!

Speaking of.. New pics of my d'Uccles

Perhaps I get carried away with the cuteness

So, is it normal that every time I see a pic of pretty chickens that I've never seen before I want one each, of ALL the chickens?

well heck I hate that! mine are all doing well, even after I took them away from mama, she was making me nuts digging and scratching and kicking all kinds of stuff in the food and water. And it didn't appear they were eating much of the feed. Of course I don't blame them the way she kept it so filthy. So I bought a 140 gallon stock tank, built a lid for it, moved their water bottles and feeder to it, with the heat lamp and put them in there. She clucked around and made those mama calling chicks noises for a little while, but by dark, she was roosting with the others and back to a normal life today.

I'll put them back in the divided section when they feather out in a few weeks, and we'll see how it goes then....

@Katie - I'd never consider you a know it all, I sure hope I didn't come off as one. My kicking theory is basically the same as your catch him theory....show em who's boss. A fighter will start to lose the desire to fight if he always loses

I haven't had any issues with him since the 2 kick day, LOL but I will say I do go in and issue a challenge at him at least once a day. I make him run, so that's pretty much the same result as your 'catch him' thing isn't it?

Pretty much! I do have ulterior motives. Maybe just a little. I just want an excuse to pick him up and squish him cuz he's so cute. And loveable, for a rooster.

But it does seem to work out that he gets the picture. I'm sure as soon as I let my guard down and turn my back, he'll try to spur me. They're just now growing in so they're not a threat. Yet.

Quote: The before pics wouldn't be good. Fostering dogs for years really messed up the house. lol! I'll post after pics though once the floors are done.

Our house in Lilburn had a very dark family room. My mother put a wall mirror up and it really opened it up and made it seem brighter. I hope that helps somewhat.

If you paint or put light colored wall tiles up, it should brighten it up.

Yep. We have a big mirror in the dining room. It helped a little. I thought with a sun room on one side, that it would be a lot brighter but it just isn't. He's not keen on the idea of painting the natural wood, but this is what I'm going for:

kind of. I figure, with the floors being vintage box car flooring they're kind of ornamental and they get sort of lost. The floors are what I fell in love with.

Question, how hard would it be to sell a few purebred Ameraucana or Marans chicks? I have 10 purebred Ameraucanas and I finally found some Marans from a show quality breeder. I have to get 12. I can only keep 10 total. I would need to rehome about 12 probably mostly Roos and a probably a few pullets depending on how they sex.
