YO GEORGIANS! :)

YO GEORGIANS!

I got my first green egg today. My flock is 25 weeks old today and we have 2 Buff Orpingtons, 1 Black Australorp, and 1 Easter Egger laying. We've been fortunate not to lose a bird yet as we've had two hawk attacks the past two days by a Coopers but we were outside both times. This is our first flock of chickens and I don't know why we never had them before. My wife wanted the chickens and now I'm glad I built the coop and ordered them and the eegs are so good! I took a few pictures as they headed to the coop, in the coop tonight and my first green egg!

Well. This week's hatch is just about over. These were the shipped eggs. Terrible turnout. Of the 13 Lavender Ameraucana eggs, only 3 hatched. Of the 10 shipped BCM, only 1 hatched. Only 10 eggs actually made it to lockdown. All the others died before day 10! Blood rings! I had added 4 of my own eggs and 3 hatched so that gives me 7 chicks out of the 10 that made it to lockdown. Here are some photos of the Lav. Ams.

Papa, the chick on the left is a Blue Am from your eggs, the 3 to the right and on 'top' of the photo are the 3 Lav Ams. Then, you see the one BCM. (So, I guess you will need to find another source for your BCM! Sorry!)
