YO GEORGIANS! :)

So, I keep noticing the last couple of weeks I will be in the house and hear this sharp, shrill cry that sounds strikingly similar to a red tailed hawk. But I laugh because I KNOW that's not what it is.. Not so close to the house. Not so close to my bantam coop. CLEARLY there's another bird that has this same distinctive call.

Surprisingly Google hasn't caught up with the times in listing said birds yet. Alas, I wait.

Understand and agree. I will have to check them tonight, they still aren't too keen on being held. I have not noticed anything weird about them. I will keep an eye on them though.
I know there is mixed reviews, from what I have read, but do any of you use like DE or any kind of dust bath for them to have around? Or is that the same thing you are saying dust them with?
No, mine just have a dirt floor of the coop and always have a couple spots they keep churned up for a good bath. I did used to use DE and I know many people have great luck with it.. I personally just got to where it didn't seem to work for me. It is a more natural alternative to the Permethrin though. The stuff I use is actually pictured at the bottom of the page of the link I posted..

And yes, my Ameraucanas HATED me to catch them and it was always a fight, lol. Brahmas aren't near as bad. Babies are almost always tough (well, young birds.. I guess actual babies you wouldn't be dusting anyway).. Good thing is, once you've dusted one you can spot its dusty butt and know you've already caught that one.
