Renters got here about an hour ago! They called and said they couldn't get the bus down the road.....so we drove the 6/10 of a mile down the driveway and, ummm, there sat a full double story greyhound bus!! hahahha! What were they thinking? The drive to our home is 1.5 miles of small gravel roads that go up and down hills.

Sooo, we had to shuttle all 23 women, their huge suitcases (only staying til Sun morning), all their food boxes, drinks, etc. Took us about an hour! Then, the man bus driver didn't know where he was going to stay because by then the roads were covered with snow and ice, so he will be staying in our barn for tonight.

Oh, what a mess!! Glad you got everyone settled, flower. How's yalls weather on top of all that?

Ummm.. Scratch that. Snow and ice. Check! ;)

Long, LONG day here! Think I read all the posts I missed.

With mealworms, wheat bran, with a little oatmeal if you like, but that makes it harder to sift.
My daughter loves tossing in the empty toilet paper rolls. Gives them something in climb in, and honestly makes it easier to grab.
I just scoop up a toilet paper roll then tap it on the feed bowl. Anything that falls in is food :)

we have about 10k or so now, started with 2k.
I've been slacking on sifting though.

I ended up with 21 chicks from my first ever hatch. 2 had to be culled :( Too deformed, couldn't even straighten out.
I think part of that was from my opening when the others were flipping the eggs around.
I will cut down cartons for next time for lockdown, and leave them alone.

I'm supposed to pick up silkie eggs tomorrow, to set Sunday if they are ready. The friend has been collecting since Monday, so I don't want to wait too long! But will need to let them settle a bit.
If I can set Sunday, we are looking at Valentine's Day :)

Funny thing is, i can't set any of my eggs this time. My customers are fussing for more eggs than my gals are giving. But we added some hens for a while for a friend who had to get them off her property or be in contempt of court. So those should help with my egg supplies once they get settled in.

So I let my Brahmas out since I'm home all afternoon. Figured they'd mill around the yard a bit and then hang out underneath the pole barn like usual.

NOPE.

Hubby and I just went out and every last one of them is pecking around in the grass, soaked to the bone.

Hubby says they will all be chicken-sickles in the morning. I know they'll dry but I do feel like a heel at this point.
they would have come in out of it if they'd wanted to. I wouldn't worry about em, they'll huddle up close tonight and stay warm.

Well, they have no choice because I crammed them all into the coop, with no choice BUT to be against one another.

I only did that because half of the pullets sleep on a roost bar right next to the wire where the rain comes in on them.. And when I moved them into the coop I thought, well heck why leave the other wet ones out? LOL. They'll be good and now I'll sleep good too. :)

Don't listen to her.  She's always about the Baby Mama Brahma Drama.

Good point.

MUST BACK AWAY FROM KEYBOARD..........

I know I can't comment, I'd be in so much trouble.
