YO GEORGIANS! :)

That's the way it appears... We didn't find any bodies and there was no signs of scuffle, and there coop door was open. So either they mysteriously disappeared without a trace or they were helped..

this is why I put the ability to put a lock on all doors with a combo lock. our kids know the combo for when we go out of town and they come by to check on them for us

Ok.. my babies eat all day and night barely sleeping. So when is enough food enough. Im going thru a pint size bag of food every 2 days. Does that seem a bit for chicks who are barely 2 weeks..

it depends, how many chicks are there? my 6 bantams at 2 weeks old have emptied a 3lb feeder once.....

sears in the mall in rome is already liquidating, they plan to be closed by mid march from what they told us last week when we were up there. I left my name to try to get a better price than what they're asking on a jewelry display case to turn into a brooder........

Anyone hatching this weekend? I'm on day 20 with 9 Brahma, 2 MFD, and a dozen Brown Leghorn eggs.. So excited!! Also, just one more hatch of small d'Uccle clutches and then I get into where they really got into the swing of it.

Are the Brahma's taken?

I had someone coming and taking all of my eggs, wouldn't mind if they had left me at least one,but locks stop that. Baby chicks seem to eat a lot, can they get in and scratch at the food, a lot is wasted if they can, I put my feeder up on something so they can't scratch in it.

here's my first batch in the bator!

@OohLaLa - and/or whomever else it was talking about humidity levels in these type of incubators. I've found pouring water in the built in wells in the bottom, even just one of the smaller sides, keeps the humidity % between 60 and 70! I've cut the side out of a plastic spice bottle, laid it on it's side and filled with warm water. it leaked at first, but my brilliant wife walked by and said "take the lid off, cover it with saran wrap and put the lid back on", BINGO! no leaks!

I'll monitor it and let you know how it does. I had the cap off an eye drops bottle (the only thing I found that would fit in the available space) in there with water in it, but it was small and just a few hours was over half gone. with that I was staying right around 35% since putting the eggs in yesterday afternoon.

I do know from reading, that it's surface area of the water that has most effect on relative humidity, so we'll see where this keeps it at.
