YO GEORGIANS! :)

My hatch is done! I've got six Brahmas, two d'Uccles, and eleven Leghorns. :D

Three Brahmas died.. One while trying to pip externally and the other two I THINK before internally pipping..

The one Leghorn looks to have died before internal pip too. One d'Uccle I had to help but it had a big hole in the egg. Same thing happened with those last time. I actually wonder if the shells are too hard? They sure are hard to chip apart when helping..

Yep. Combs are huge. Mine would flop over so my kids nick named her Flop-A
:love

I cannot WAIT to get my hands on those babies! They're bigger than I expected and SO fluffy!! I wonder if that's a Leghorn thing, bc Papa's leghorn cross that I hatched was the same way- LONG down!

Anyway their chocolate-colored stripes are so pretty.

I went o Tractor Supply Dallas yesterday for chick stuff I asked when the chicks were coming everything is set up for them . They don't know when they don't know what kind , I am sure someone knows but how do you run a store and not communicate this information to your employees. This is a event they have every year I would want to get that info out to my customers to get all the sales dollars I could.Thank You all for letting me rant but GET IT TOGEATHER TS .

The Tractor Supply stores are all the same. Had to take one of my metal water back to the Griffin store due to the finish coming off and just starting some small spots of rust, and only two months old, guess what management says that is normal and no problem for these waters, so after much debate, a employee that almost got fired coming to my defense they finally decided to offer me a replacement, but I replaced with plastic. Same thing even this management had no confirmed date when chicks will be arriving or what type, although they have everything set-up. TSC is certainly going down hill, and Thanks for letting me rant, does not seem TSC wants to get their act together. Maybe its to me but to give chicken water with the finish coming of and spots of rust from the water is NOT normal or good

There are sale booths at the show, yes.

So on the 20th, where will you all be?

I was hoping to meet Robo :)

I candled and put my silkie and mixed eggs on lockdown today.
Really sad, only 2 of the 9 silkie eggs had anything going on. Not sure if it was fertilization or how old they were (big end floated on all when I got them).

And only 2/3 of the eggs from my barnyard mix, but that is after 2 weeks with the roosters switched around.
My barnyard mix section has 3 roosters and about 30 hens.
My RIR section has 15 RIR hens, 4 Ameraucana hens and 2 RIR roosters.

Again, the other eggs never even started developing.

We will see what hatches out.

I have been in some good TSCs ... I believe the biggest issue with the Dallas store has been leadership. There were some fantastic employees there and left to go to other stores because of management. The dealings that I have had there involving management have been horrid. But I have been to others where everything was great or, if it wasn't, management has been eager to make it right.

Feathersaloft ... not sure exactly what time we will be doing what on the 20th but we will be there somewhere.

Why are you float testing eggs for hatching? Hatching eggs should not be washed or float tested. It washes off the protective bloom on the egg and makes it susceptible to bacteria.

How old were the eggs? Did you store them point end down? Turn them while you were gathering them?

I only have one rooster to all my 30+ hens right now. I am waiting for my two Lav AM roos to grow up and do their thing. I am thinking of doing a test run on hatching to see how fertile things are. Also because I just had 2 calls for chicks and I only have one right now. Waiting for next week for my new chicks!
