YO GEORGIANS! :)

I'm using a styrofoam Farm Innovators (hubby is building a cabinet incubator soon).
Would you suggest raising the humidity in stages?
I am trying to learn, but there is so much conflicting information!!
I have started raising mine in two stages of my humidity is in the 20's when it's close to lockdown time. I go to around 40 for a day then to 50. Not sure if it's truly a big deal but I did read it on a hatching thread and thought it made sense. :)

GAM keeps our cabinet between 35 and 45 percent humidity.  If individual eggs... such as duck and goose....need more moisture she just spritzes them with a water bottle.  No humidity changing.  No such thing as "lock down" around here.
I may start trying this with my cabinet. The hatches I have coming up are so small anyway, why not.

Another thing on the humidity discussion ... there is a big difference in the numbers that you will get based on the method used to measure.

When I do styrofoam units for incubation I always use the Accu-rite temp/humidity units (hygrometers). I have had the best results with them over other brands and styles. That has been my experience, others may have different experiences.

I use the wet bulb method to measure. It seemed to make sense and do away with much of the variation.

I have the meat thermometer stuck thru the side, and a wick from the water reservoir to the thermometer.\

And I never saw any pip, never heard a peep, but there is a RIR running around in the incubator all of the sudden.
Maybe I was getting worried too early?

Now waiting on those BW Ameraucanas!

And a second one is pipping. Maybe I was off a day and didn't start them til Monday night after Newnan.
I use Hatchabatch to track dates, and I got a new phone. I added the date for this one by memory.

Oh good!!
Btw, I got the Hatch a Batch app idea from you sharing it.. And I love it!! No more scratch papers scattered with lockdown and hatch dates! Reminders just pop up. Highly recommend!
