YO GEORGIANS! :)

I did manage to see last week(?) that Papa hurt himself again. And that Flower is building a new coop. I have a ton of reading to do. I haven't been around regular for months. Since waaay before the Newnan show.
And you can catch up even faster if you just skip Robo's posts. It's not like you'd be missing anything.
I already do that. Doesn't everyone?

That turkey egg looks pretty cool! I would love a couple of turkeys for the table, but I'm getting ahead of myself. LOL

I need more hens. It's time. Stanley is too much for his ladies. 3 more girls should even it out better, even though we'll probably lose the Easter Egger. She has EYP and I know that the prognosis is bad. I have narrowed down my wants a bit, but not sure if I'd find them all in one place. I have my heart set on a Crested Cream Legbar and wouldn't mind an Isbar or Minorca. And everyone knows I need a replacement Dorothy still, so that would mean a Buff Orpington is priority. Not sure I want to brood chicks, though. 2 Roos is enough for me right now, so they gotta be pullets. Anyone have suggestions or ideas where I'd find those 3 birds?

And did I mention we suspect my DH is allergic to the chickens? LOL We definitely can't brood chicks in the house anymore. He helped me with Stanley the other day and his hands had hives the next day. oops.

ok I've been working on my newish bator.

After turning it around, and turning it over, this is what I found:

this is the fan and heating element out of a space heater. It definitely brings the heat up quick, but required a 6 inch or so hole cut in. He didn't block it off at all, just built that little cage around it. Sooooo, I'm of the mind, that it was bringing in too much fresh air for me to regulate the humidity.

I had a piece of scrap flashing, and built a box to close it off. Still not air tight, but much better than it was. If this seems to help, I will silicone around it and seal it off a bit better, if it's not helping any at all, I'll scrap it, cover the hole and order a new heater/fan to put inside.

here it is now:

oh and welcome back Katy, you've been missed

I ordered two black Minorca chicks and got one BO free, but they are still chicks. I think I am only keeping one of the Minorcas. May sell the other when they get older.

how's your bruise healing? I think you have surpassed me on the injuries thus far. All I did was re-injure my broken ankle from 2 years ago, but it was just a sprain. Doc said all the screws are still in place and that the popping and bruising was from scar tissue being torn. Limped for a few days but that was it.

Older is perfect. LOL
When I say not chicks, I guess I mean not newborns. 6-8 weeks minimum. is that still considered a chick? I'll buy that older Minorca when you are ready to sell. You got a CCL and a BO to go with? That would be awesome!

well the bruise has spread into my foot, and though I really need to hit the recliner for at least a few days and prop it up, I just can't. It's still very sore and the foot and ankle are swelled as well
