YO GEORGIANS! :)

Renters put big fire in fireplace and one of the logs fell forward to the very front of the fireplace and the whole house was full of smoke! Luckily nobody died! LOL

Robo, I know GAM is too nice to use her guns on you!

Oh no!

I have a degree in Computer Science and one in Criminal Justice (Over Achiever) and I can be a little paranoid but something just doesn't seem right about these ads. Here is one:

When someone doesn't want to state where they are located that is a big red flag. When they create several ads with different chickens saying stuff like, they lay too many eggs, sounds like a trap. One even says, 2 of these 4 hens lay good eggs. What? Also they placed all of these different ads in seconds. If you reply to it they could give you a virus. If you notice sometimes you can reply to some ads and start getting crazy emails on your email that is connected to CL. I swear this world is getting more crooked everyday! The first ad seemed cool and the chicken addict in me wants those chickens, after seeing 5 of them with different chickens but similar stories, that is a big red flag.

hmmm. This is why I'm too paranoid and chicken to try to find what I need on Craigslist. I trust no one.

I have done my good deed for the day, so I get a cookie

These showed up in my yard and they will soon be going to a new home!!! A Beekeeper's group is sending some one out this evening to get them, if they are still here.

Cut the tree down.

BTW, did you ever notice that Pooh was always getting honey from a hornets nest?

can't cut down the tree silly,
big_smile.png

Of all the billions of hours I have spent in the woods, I have never seen a swarming hive of bees. I would LOVE for a swarm to show up here. I get honey and they might solve my wife problem... win win.

If I notice one bee missing I'm gonna tell
Yep. Remember, he was always going after the ball type nest hanging from a limb........ honey bees don't build those types of nests. Hornets do.
Now we are going to have to watch Pooh,, even when he was dipping his paw in the tree was a hornets nest?

Oh BTW bees are now part of my home, and the bee people on here are telling me congratulations, so that is good

but the bad thing is no honey since they are in the tree, wonder if you could drill holes (without getting stung) and tap into it. Hmmmm.....Sounds like a job for DH so the only positive I can see is my garden will be pollinated and now that they have a home they will defend it and now they will be aggressive, only when they are in a swarm are they the least aggressive, least that is what I have learned today. Oh guineas don't go after bees only stupid dogs.

That is really early.  Is there anything that could have been off? Temp a bit high, storage before incubation, etc.?  Ducks tend to take longer to finish the zip and hatch.  I would be hesitant to get too involved now as, if really day 24, there is going to be a lot that could go very wrong.  The trick now if to be sure it doesn't dry out or get glued in.

This is my brooder and the two eggs on day 25.

This is the hatch from hell!
I told a guy I would hatch some eggs for him. Without warning he shows up one month later with 48 chicken eggs and 24 turkey eggs.
1. He stored them in cartons upside down!
2. He had been collecting them for a month
3. He didn't know you needed to rotate them!
4. Some were so dirty, I won't even put them in the bator

Only 19 chicken eggs developed anything and 12 of the turkeys developed.

Then, I messed up and forgot to put them in lockdown until the night of day 19!
Then, the electricity goes off while we weren't home and the temp went down to 89 degrees for about an hour. And because of the temp being off, the humidity spiked at 79 percent because the fan inside wasn't working!
So, as of today, hatch day for the chickens, only 4 chicks have hatched so far. There are 3 more pips...... ugh! I am hoping that the temp drop has just delayed the chicks and that more will hatch later tonight or tomorrow! Ugh, what a disaster!

The 12 turkey eggs in another bator are still looking good. They are due next week, along with the Ameraucanas and SBEL's from Lindsey.

you did let him know the error of his ways, right?

I actually saw someone post a craigslist ad that they would incubate eggs for $2 each....with no guarantees for the hatch. You never know when the power might go out, or even if they brought you fertilized eggs

ND when you get store-bought eggs they're ALWAYS upside down!! Blows my mind! I'm always flipping the eggs over the right way in my family and (close lol) friends houses.
