YO GEORGIANS! :)

AND when you get store-bought eggs they're ALWAYS upside down!! Blows my mind! I'm always flipping the eggs over the right way in my family and (close lol) friends houses.

See now that's just silly. I don't think they fry up any different if the air sac is not intact.

It turns out I really like the hoop coop. I'm going to build 3 more and fence off four 50x100 plots. I think that will be large enough to drill some winter rye with some oats or wheat mixed in for the winter. I still plan on running about 20 free range that have a permanent coop. I have a temporary fence up now for the hoop coop and they took to it just fine. I put them in one night and the next day they were laying in the nest boxes.
Big Bird has become a real rooster since he has his own girls. Next week I'll hatch of some of his girls eggs and see how they grow off. You guys say a little prayer for me as I've got it bad!

Yep. Remember, he was always going after the ball type nest hanging from a limb........ honey bees don't build those types of nests. Hornets do.

Aha. He was and it never occurred to me. Honestly, I haven't seen or read any Pooh books/movies in forever though. LOL
Maybe even since I was a teenager babysitting for neighbors. And I would've never thought to notice it.

This is the hatch from hell!
I told a guy I would hatch some eggs for him. Without warning he shows up one month later with 48 chicken eggs and 24 turkey eggs.
1. He stored them in cartons upside down!
2. He had been collecting them for a month
3. He didn't know you needed to rotate them!
4. Some were so dirty, I won't even put them in the bator

Only 19 chicken eggs developed anything and 12 of the turkeys developed.

Then, I messed up and forgot to put them in lockdown until the night of day 19!
Then, the electricity goes off while we weren't home and the temp went down to 89 degrees for about an hour. And because of the temp being off, the humidity spiked at 79 percent because the fan inside wasn't working!
So, as of today, hatch day for the chickens, only 4 chicks have hatched so far. There are 3 more pips...... ugh! I am hoping that the temp drop has just delayed the chicks and that more will hatch later tonight or tomorrow! Ugh, what a disaster!

The 12 turkey eggs in another bator are still looking good. They are due next week, along with the Ameraucanas and SBEL's from Lindsey.

Oh man. that stinks! You're having one heck of a week for sure.

I do too, and I had to tell my friend that she stores her eggs wrong and she said really there is a right way and a wrong way,,glad to know I'm not the only one driven crazy by upside down eggs

ok we only have 18 days before the BBQ, has it been decided on what everyone is bringing? I know Papa said he is bringing some BBQ!!! I hope he's still going to be able to do that. atie you brought a salad of some sort last time, can't remember what it was but it was good. What are we going to have? Who all is going? and what time are we invading Robo's and Gams?

OMG!! The BBQ! This will be my saving grace (hopefully) from all the dang BANTAMS I'm about to hatch. LOL.
