1 mystery black chick from a RIR who jumped the fence
2 EE that Eric used to fill the tray
2 silkies

And he got paid in mealworms and bran

Oh, and I have my first broody of the year. I moved her to a dog crate in the coop and she's content.
Tomorrow I will swap her eggs for lavender eggs, see if I have better luck that way.

today I managed to get 5 more fence posts set. Went to TSC in Carrollton and bought a 9 inch auger for the post hole digger. Found out that my tractor PTO will turn it well enough it will dig itself all the way to the boom, and the lift on the old tractor isn't strong enough to pick it back up from that deep.....a long pipe wrench, a 3' cheater pipe, and the neighbor and I backed it out far enough for the lift to pick it back up.


on another note, add 5 more 'that's gonna leave a mark' to wednesdays 4, and we're up to 9. I am counting the one I said when I was hooking my utility trailer up to the truck, and it rolled forward pinning me between it and the truck, right on the pocket where my iphone was, and yes it did leave a mark. Several little crack marks on the phone screen......

I been outside feeding and watering this morning in shorts, tshirt and crocs (that I only wear in the yard) and I love this weather. Wish it could be like this year round.

I am so hot natured, if I get cold, everybody else will have froze to death.

I absolutely hate summer! HATE IT!

Oh, I'm not a fan of extreme heat, either. But if I had to choose one or die, I'd take the heat. My friends always tease me about constantly being cold! They somehow think that because I was born in the NE, I'm supposed to be genetically predisposed to like cold weather. I'd be perfectly happy in southern CA, FT Lauderdale or some other subtropical climate, provided it's near or on a beach.

latest round of fuzzy butts! 3 blue 1 splash ameraucana chicks. Already sold to a young lady who is picking them up monday


They've been moved inside. broody mama is NOT happy with me this morning.

The 10 chicks in the kitchen went to the brooder cage in the big coop.

the welsummers that were in the brooder cage in the big coop went in with the adults, I think the MFD's are the only chickens I have that aren't ticked off at me this morning, bahaha.....

I put another broody mama in a separate tub with some eggs. She wasn't happy being separated, but I have a feeling when she realizes there's eggs there to sit on she'll cheer up. I took the mama out that just hatched the eggs and put her back in the coop, she's chirping, walking around squatting and calling for the babies. It almost makes me sad.

ALMOST.....now shut up and start laying eggs again!

If it weren't for my back I would have been there already. Just think of the potential! I'm picturing it like the puppies at the pet store ... different chicks in each compartment.
