YO GEORGIANS! :)

You need to follow your gut, what ever thought came to mind first you need to listen to.

My gut instinct is to always investigate. So, I went ahead. It looks like a shrink wrap, maybe. Yolk wasn't fully absorbed yet it seems. Not totally sure what to look for, but thee was a hole in the membrane in the area of the air sack, but the membrane was sucked down tight over the chick. It was pretty thick too. looked like tissue paper in some spots, but I don't know if it is supposed to be or not(?). There were a few times when both eggs would be sitting out behind her as if she shifted her position and had no Idea they weren't underneath her. More often, the one that hatched. Slightly outside of where she was sitting but still under her fluff, just enough that you'd almost miss them. I only caught it when I would change her water and check her food bowl.

ah, well. Off I go to get ready for the auction. Gotta drive to Sandy Springs in a bit.

Bottom shelf is still hatching. Humidity is still lower than I'd like.
Shells are hard and membranes are stiff. Several babies have needed help after zipping.

Definitely will add a second fan before adding more eggs. Even if it's the tiny plug in desk one.

Up to 25 total.
LOL. Getting harder to figure out which she'll they are coming from!

Maybe I'm not going to work at the auction after all. I just effed up big time. I went out to get in the truck, keys are in ignition. SINCE SATURDAY! that battery is so beyond dead there's no way it's gonna charge. I'm supposed to be in Sandy Springs, at 4 pm. I've got it hooked up to a charger but that battery is probably so old.

Guyton georgia here

Welcome!
Oh. Mygosh. I am just slowing down from a weekend slap FULL of family gathering, followed by unexpected (but oh so welcome!) company who needed a place to crash for the night, followed by some other friends who came tonight to help us eat all the leftovers from yesterday. LOL. This was the busiest weekend we've had since I can remember!

Turned out Papa Mal's girlfriend was only for the day as she appeared to have gone on her way this evening. Oh well.

GAM, looks like I'll have to duck shop with you after all.

And GAMjr thinks you don't love her ... she still has no rooster.
New coop. Still working on it! Chickens love it!

LOVE it!!

[I did the candling class today I just love being with chicken people I always learn something new . The carrollton Ag dept . Is wanting ideas on what kind of classes chicken folks would like to have . Any one with ideas they would like to hear from you . When I get the info for their web page I will post it .

Thanks ... I'll be watching for that info

How many of you do a strict lockdown and how many remove fluffy babies mid hatch?
I wasn't going to open but had a couple who were pinned under other eggs.

I do not do a strict lock-down but I also use a cabinet and they recover so quickly that it isn't a big deal. I may occasionally use a spray bottle on hatching eggs if I have to open the incubator ... depends on the eggs and the humidity.

Thank you. I'm using my new cabinet. I did start spraying lightly with warm water when I open it. That helped the last two I think. Still quite a few pips.
