Went to the gun show in Cartersville. We were gone for hours. When we got home all of the Runner Ducks were waiting to go into the coop. One was missing. They don't go anywhere without the group. So, I start calling and looking around. Down by the lake, half sitting in the water, is the chocolate Runner Duck. I could see it was looking at me, but not coming to me. So I go down there and she's just sitting in the shallows, not making a quack. I go to pick her up out of the water and she tries to back up but goes nowhere. That's when I see that she is all tangled up in fishing line!!! Darn renters! And poor Hershey! No telling how long she had been sitting in the water all tangled up like that! She was so exhausted she didn't even make a peep when I picked her up and untangled her legs. One leg is swollen because the line was wrapped pretty tightly around her leg. She also felt waterlogged. Poor baby. I put her back in the coop. I hope she will be ok.
I know that the renters fish all the time, but I will have to remind them to be careful with their lines and try to retrieve them when they break or get tangled in the bushes by the lake.
