YO GEORGIANS! :)

  - when are you guys starting the incubation?  My next batch is going in on Friday evening.  Focus on Maran's and Olive eggers w/ a few BCM over White Leghorn crosses.

I put them in on Tuesday night, but I'm not expecting much out of them. I'm doing every thing wrong this hatch. Didn't turn them while sitting, many are muddy, some were pulled out of the fridge... Lol
I'll be lucky to get even one chick! But I was gathering more eggs than we're being sold for eating and that I could eat myself, so I figured why not. Any chicks I could sell will still be making me more than the eggs sitting on the counter. :)
All of mine should be either EE, OE, or Crested crosses. Some cute bantam EE/Silky cross eggs in there too.

My silkie mix is broody again. We confiscated her eggs yesterday and kicked her off the nest. She laid another egg and was sitting on one egg this morning. So I put a few more under her. Last time she was broody was in the middle of the hottest temperatures, all of them went bad. I'm hoping it was the heat and not her being a terrible broody. I guess we'll find out. We're going to give her another try.

I'm nervous about even plugging in an incubator right now. There was a fire at a power station here and our lights have been going down every so often ever since. I think they're working in fixing it. But I never know when it's going to go off and for how long. My poor fish tanks. Incubators could end up a worse mess.

I started a page for my (unfinished) coop. https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/modified-garden-coop-aka-hennsylvania

It feels like I've been working on it forever...please send moral support...and a new saw battery.

that looks awesome!

best place for batteries is batteries plus. they can rebuild your saw battery if it's gotten to the point of not charging or holding a charge for long, or, they have new batteries for most of them at a LOT less than home depot or lowes, etc etc.....

you're doing great, and you will certainly enjoy knowing you did the work yourself!
