Ok, let her know I"m ready to get the turkeys!!!!I don't know. Her dad is in town so she's ignoring me, too.
Her phone has been failing a lot too though. So maybe that has something to do with it.
I am in Georgia, a little late to the thread but I am here now![]()

Congrats!Got my first egg today, I'm guessing from Lucy ...the big BO...it's a little thing, and she laid it in the pen instead of the laying boxes in the coop. How can I fix that?
Also isn't it right that when they first start laying the eggs are small, but get to normal size after a bit?
Hope there are many more eggs to come! The first few eggs can be laid anywhere. You're lucky you found it. Usually the girls figure out what to do by themselves, but you can do a few things to help such as showing her where the box is and placing a golf ball in the nest. Also, I use pine shavings for my coops, but I use straw for the nesting boxes since my girls seem to prefer that material for nest building. Some people also like to confine a new layer to a nesting box in the morning, but if you do that, make sure it's the right girl. lolI put a couple of golf balls in the nest boxes. That seems to attract them to lay there. But, I do have a couple of hens that refuse to lay in the boxes. I know at least one of them was in the pen that a snake got into the nest box. She probably has a phobia now. The other always seems to lay her eggs on top of the next box. How she does, I have no clue.Got my first egg today, I'm guessing from Lucy ...the big BO...it's a little thing, and she laid it in the pen instead of the laying boxes in the coop.
