Great pics! They look like girls so far. Somehow I lucked out in the female department my last hatch of silkie/showgirls. Only 1 boy and 5 girls. It balanced out with the cream legbars I hatched with them, but I thought it was neat. And don't you just want to rub lotion on their necks? They always look so dry. Lol.

Well, I'm doing it!Going to auction with 9 of my oldest hens. These were some of my first, but they are 4+ years old and just not laying well. I fell so bad. They are like family, but I just can't afford to keep feeding them when they are not contributing to the egg pool! I will let you know how it goes.
Now you will be able.to buy 125 lbs of feed for the rest of your chickens. lol

Yes, I have them. I've just been selling the offspring. Their mom is the silkie I did crop surgery on. Now if she would just start laying again, that would be great. The rooster is trying to breed everyone in the pen, but one is raising babies and the rest are too young.You really hit the jackpot with these Showgirls. They are a couple of the prettiest I have ever seen. I hope you still have the rooster and hen who produced them because these birds are exquisite! We want more!

Looks like we have a lot of hatching in our future. Our GQF has three racks, and each rack holds two trays, and each tray holds 60 hatching eggs. That's a capacity of 360 hatching eggs!
We have to go to New Orleans in mid-August, but when we return, we plan to hatch like crazy to become hatching experts with this machine. Each week we plan to set up to 120 hatching eggs (2 trays), and rotate them to a new rack each week.
Since we are learning, we will set and incubate BYC members eggs for free if you want us to provide you that service. No guarantees on hatch results, but if you want someone else to do the incubating, we're here for you.

You have a great combination with those two birds!Here's the funny part: Lisa's into hatching, and I'm into watching birds develop, yet after we get the incubator and are talking as we're driving home, Lisa informs me that I will be setting the eggs and monitoring the incubator because she likes the way that I keep records. So, she likes hatching as long as I'm the one doing it???! I sure got sucked in to this one, but if it keeps Lisa happy, I'll do it.
