YO GEORGIANS! :)

Pullets are a gold mine right now. Everyone wants them. You could always sell some grow out pullets for people that want to get started with chickens but don't want to do the brooder stage.

How would I advertise them? FB? They’re backyard mixes. No special breeds. Right now they’re 6 weeks, but I don’t mind waiting til they’re a week or two before laying to sell.

I can post a few southern Ga / mid Ga Facebook groups there are people always wanting baby chickens, try Craigslist, just list them as barnyard mix pullets, list what type of laying hens you have and roosters. They will sell, or just stock up the freezer lol

That’s what I need to do, join a chicken FB group to advertise them. I’ll look at eBay and maybe Craigslist. But yes, worst case scenario I’ll be eating them. For sure my husband wants to keep two because they have an Einstein type hairball at the top even though it mostly goes away once they become adults 😂

That is a pretty good price. And even if you get roosters you can always eat them. I hatched some chicks and will be eating all the males. Makes me a little sad but I don’t have room for so many roosters.

My husband wants goats. I dunno how I feel about them. But right now we can’t find any for cheap. I didn’t know purebreds were $800 plus! We rather get muts for $100 but we’d have to find some
Im all for mutts! Dogs, livestock, humans... I get that people want to show animals or to improve or sustain a certain breed of something. But for my purposed mutts are just fine.

Don’t tell anyone but probably all the chickens people are so quick to judge as “not being pure” probably aren’t “pure” . I don’t know anyone testing chicken genetics for breed purity. They might not meet the SOP but that doesn’t mean they aren’t “pure” and definitely doesn’t make the
pure if they meet the SOP

I bred and showed dogs for many years. Tons of breeders spend thousands if not tens of thousands to produce a dog that is a perfect example of the SOP / or breed standard. More of the littler is either borderline or doesn’t meet the breed standard ..... and that with multi generation pedigrees. So we all probably have mutts

It raises my hackles when someone post a picture of their bird and the first unsolicited response is ..... “that’s not a pure bred”

Anyway. Stay safe
