YO GEORGIANS! :)

I feed my chickens in the ground not feeders since they scratch all day. How do you know if they waste it. I always look the next day and see no trace of feed on the floor and the area I feed them is almost grass-less compared to the rest of their run 😂

ETA: my chicks 6 weeks and under do get fed on a feeder and I keep it full. Just the older chickens I feed on the ground

crumble is the "messiest" and pellets seem to be the least messy. No pellets for chicks but once they get older I usually go to pellets. I think crumble might be a little easier to process. Crumble does have a tendency to ferment if it is not consumed over an extended period of time. Fermented crumble will smell worse than poop.

I’m wanting to make Red Sex Links next year and for that I need pullets from these breeds:

Rhode Island White
Light Sussex
Delaware

So if anyone can help me out that’d be awesome. I don’t need them right this second since I have 3 brooders with young birds, but in the near future like summer time frame, that would be awesome. (Preferably close to SW GA).

Oh ya it stinks bought a 50lb bag of feed from a local store since TSC was out, got home opened it up and the smell was horrible. I called TSC and had them put me on a call list for when it came in, I had to use it for about 24 hours until I got some fresh feed. Then that bag was dragged out to the side 40 acres and dumped on the ground for the deer or whatever wanted it

You weren’t able to return it?? I would think you could if you opened it the same day you bought it.

Are you saying you have one of those 3 breeds? 😂

So I bought 6 Easter Eggers from TSC back in Feb/Mar. They were straight runs so not surprised I got 4 males and 2 females (just happy I got any females at all).

I’m obviously going to keep the 2 females. I also have plans to keep one rooster. My question is: should I eat the other 3 or sell them? I don’t plan on giving them away because I can eat them but I wouldn’t mind selling them to break even or a tiny profit on raising them.

Are Easter Eggers even on demand since they’re really mixes? They do have somewhat puffy cheeks 😂 I’ll post pics later.

Pullets I agree but I dunno about cockerels being on demand. I’ll see.

I didn’t even think about returning it lol I just tossed it

Waaa!! My husband hates returning stuff. Once we bought a crappy greenhouse for $100. Came with a missing piece but he had already built it and didn’t wanna take it down. We never used it and now it’s destroyed. We shoulda just taken it down, returned it and not gotten a replacement. But with these times we’re a little more conservative when it comes to spending money and returning things that don’t work right away.
