Holly, I was really impressed with Dr. Anderson when he came out. I think it's great to develop a relationship with our state vets. They can really teach us a lot! I hope your quest ends well!

I'm glad to learn what he said also althought we've never had mg and practice extreme biosecurity and isolation, etc. with all our birds. That being said be sure and get something other than bleach and lysol to clean your are cages and yes your shoes. It's available at egg cartons.com and worth every penny!

We've got oodles of hatching eggs (please see our listings - search under poultry for sale - eggs and also under other poultry.

I use Nolvasan, mixed according to the directions. All the cars have a spray bottle in them and I keep a gallon mixed and a sprayer here at the house. I also keep two pair of boots just for visiting other places. I feel they are easier to spray than tennis shoes. bargain's biosecurity practices remind me when I get forgetful!
This is the first time I've gone to egg cartons.com. Pretty cool!

Hey, Georgians! I have a bit of tragic news, followed by a devious plot.

First, the sad news. One of our dogs has recently discovered that killing chickens is fun

We have yet to figure out how she's getting them out of the coop and run, but I'm of the opinion that we should just find the dog a new home.
The news gets worse, though. Just yesterday she got my little brother's favorite hen, an Old English Game Bantam. She was a sweetie, well named as Candy.
It gets even worse for my poor brother, though. He had his heart set on taking up some of Candy's eggs and hatching them out as his Science project this year, as he's taking Life Science in middle school right now.
Unfortunately, we hadn't put up any eggs into storage for this, and Candy was our only currently laying hen.

Now, my devious plot. I have yet to get the go ahead from Mother on this, but I'm thinking she'll like the idea.

I am thinking of getting some eggs from either eBay or a fellow BYC'er for brother to hatch, so he can still do his project, and the icing on the cake would be to get OEGB eggs.

I can't buy right now, but is there anyone here in good ol' Georgia who might have some OEGB eggs available soonish?

BUT.... Mom was WAY ahead of me. I woke up today to find out she had just gotten back from the house of the man who sold us Rusty and Candy, and bought BOTH his remaining bantam hens!

I'll post pictures later, but thank God, brother is so happy.
