YO GEORGIANS! :)

I am so soo sorry, wish you were closer so I could just hand you some eggs.... Is there anyway you can move the nest box to the ground with the babies???? Hugs to you on your loss! I sympathize with you!
Oh thank you so much...how sweet of you to offer and I will get in my car and drive right up there, LOL I am thinking of moving Lacy and the eggs into the empty rabbit cage and putting them in the potting shed where it's protected and warm. Do you think she will freak out? I don't want them falling out after they have pipped either.

You're just a little over 2 hours away...Maybe one day I should come see you this fall...I'd love to see your farm.

I find its easier to move a broody late in the evening, around the time they usually would go to roost. They are less likely to freak out because they are in a new place.

Thanks Farmerchef I was actually thinking of that too. She is such a good mom I have to physically remove her from her clutch to go out and eat/drink every day. I will just take advantage of that time and move her.

Aw, I'm sorry about your baby, cinder. I always get so sad when I lose chicks, and it never gets any easier.
Thanks so much

I just moved her and the eggs to a rabbit cage in my potting shed because this is the home stretch. Some one on the Silkie forum said my eggs look like her eggs right before they hatch

so...I am now wondering if these chicks will pop out in the next couple of days. It's crazy being a first time chicken momma! I'm so "new" I really need to read some articles about rearing chickens, hahaha. I have always "flown" by the seat of my pants though...do it now and worry about it later...LOL
