Yogurt, for Walking In?!?

I have had some walk through a dish of yogurt I've put down for them; makes cute footprints on the quarry tiles on exit (which then get eaten pretty pronto by passing hens). I can't say I've noticed any obvious effect of this on their feet - but they love to eat it, and in moderation it's good for them!

I hope you give him very clear and detailed plans on what to build....
...or who know what you might end up with!!
We're working together on the design so I'm actually pretty excited. If we come to an agreement on build and price I'll post progress pics.

But I'd never heard of having the chickens walking in yogurt before.

And thanks all!

I can't remember if you've had chickens before or not.....
...but might be good to run the design past the many chicken and building savvy folks here on BYC before finalizing with builder.

Heh. Yes, I'd say VERY clear and detailed. The 'chicken coop/run planning detail meeting' lasted for over an hour. New Boots talking, one guy listening and clarifying and another guy writing down copious notes and sketches. I'm hoping we don't have to take out a mortgage on the new house to pay for the chicken's domicile.
Thing is, this is our first winter here in Lakeside and yesterday we were smacked with a so-called 'atmospheric cyclone' which threw blasting, gusty winds and heavy rain at us from every direction for over 12 hours. That makes it a more sobering thought about how to plan a chicken run that will be hospitable to chickens and not ducks!
