Our chickens are laying eggs but when we crack them open, the yoke is not "formed". What can cause this. Are the eggs ok to eat?

Do you mean that the yolk is broken and loose in the shell? Are your chickens young and just starting to lay? Is it more than one hen with the same problem? Can you post pics?
