They're sleeping right now but I definitely will in the morning! They're all weirdly greasy right now though? I made another post in the raising chicks thread about it but hopefully it goes away soon.

I saw that... don't know what it could be. Hope you can get it resolved.

New chick's shouldn't be greasy. They must have gotten into something somewhere.

Yeah I figured, they were in my duck pen for a day and I originally thought the ducks spilled water on them but they weren't wet when I picked them up so I wasn't sure what was wrong exactly. They're all eating and drinking normally though and are just as active as ever so I don't think they're sick. I read that giving them a bath with baby shampoo can help?

Johnson's baby shampoo would be the safest thing to use if it became absolutely necessary BUT, have you been letting them dust bathe? Try to set out a shallow pan of dry dirt or sand and let them roll around in it. If they're not used to dust bathing yet it may take a while for them to figure it out, and then they may look terrible with dirt sticking to them, but eventually it should all wear off. Dirt is actually the best cleaner for chickens haha!

Welcome to Backyard Chickens - I wonder if they were "shrink wrapped." I've never seen it but heard it mentioned often on BYC in the hatching section. That's probably the best place to ask about them being greasy.

I would not wash your chicks at their age. Offer them a dust bath and let them take care of their grooming themselves. Good luck with your new chicks.
